endo myths Endo myths Below I list some of the most common and, I believe, some of the most disconcerting myths about endometriosis, all of which are false. It affects only women – FALSE It only affects women over 20 years old - FALSE It only affects women who have never given birth - FALSE It disappears with pregnancy - FALSE It only affects the female reproductive system - FALSE It disappears if we remove the uterus - FALSE It disappears during menopause - FALSE The level of pain corresponds to the stage of the disease - FALSE 1. It only affects women FALSE. Although extremely rare, there are cases of men who have developed endometriosis. Particularly, men who have taken hormone therapy with oestrogens to treat prostatic cancer and men with liver cirrhosis [1] . 2. Only affects women over 20 FALSE. Teenagers also have endometriosis! Endometriosis is the main cause of dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain) in adolescents. In fact, studies indicate that endometriosis can form even before menarche and that 66% of adult women with endo report having had symptoms before the age of 20 [2] . 3. It only affects women who have never given birth FALSE. This is a prejudice that only began to dissolve in the mid-1990s! For many years, doctors and researchers postulated that endo affected “career women,” i.e., those who delayed motherhood [3] . 4. Disappears with pregnancy FALSE. Pregnancy decreases oestrogen production. Therefore, during pregnancy, the condition improves. However, it returns with the normalisation of hormone production. On the other hand, “complications during pregnancy are more frequent in women with endometriosis: premature birth, placenta previa, babies with lower weight at birth”… [4] . Endometriosis Arrow right Endo stages Arrow right Symptoms and related diseases Arrow right Causes Arrow right 5. It only affects the female reproductive system FALSE. In most cases, patients are mainly affected in the female reproductive organs, particularly in stage 1 and 2 endometriosis. However, endometriosis can appear anywhere, even in the eyes [4] . 6. It disappears if we remove the uterus FALSE . If you do not remove all pre-existing endometriosis, which may be impossible (imagine a dots spread over an area), the ovaries will continue to produce oestrogen and therefore feeding the endometriosis [4] . 7. It disappears during menopause FALSE. It is true that during menopause the ovaries no longer produce the same amount of oestrogen, the tendency is for endometriosis to regress and no longer cause symptoms. However, 2%–4% of menopausal women experience symptoms of endometriosis [5] . One must also consider that many menopausal women need to take hormone replacement therapy with oestrogen [6]. 8. the level of pain corresponds to the stage of the disease FALSE. Most of the time, the scale of the disease refers to purely physiological factors and not exactly the level of pain (see stages of the disease ). Women with endometriosis only in the ovaries can suffer terrible pain during menstruation, while other women can have endometriosis already infiltrated in the intestines and still have no symptoms or very mild symptoms that don't even worry them. endo stages American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) classification Endometriosis Arrow right Symptoms and related diseases Arrow right Causes Arrow right Myths Arrow right There is no consensus on the classification of endometriosis. The most used system is that of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). This system was designed with a focus on the impact on fertility and not necessarily the impact on patients' quality of life . Endometriosis is classified into four stages depending on the location, extent and depth of endometriosis implants and adhesions. Stage 1, minimal endometriosis (5 points or less), also called superficial peritoneal endometriosis The lesions are small and superficial. Scar tissue is minimal or non-existent. Stage 2, mild endometriosis (between 5 and 15 points), endometriomas More injuries and and they tend to be located deeper inside the tissue. There may be some scar tissue, but there is usually no inflammation yet. Stage 3, moderate endometriosis (between 16 and 40 points), also known as deep infiltrative endometriosis Presence of multiple and deep endometriosis implants. There may be endometriomas or chocolate cysts on the ovaries. These cysts are formed when implants surround the ovaries and when they bleed, they leave old brown blood that collects in a capsule that can grow and be very painful when they leak. These bands of scar tissue can fuse the organs together. Stage 4, severe endometriosis (more than 40 points), or abdominal wall endometriosis Infertility at this stage is very likely due to distortion of the morphology of the abdominal wall. It is characterised by numerous and deep implants. The implants can be in the fallopian tubes and intestines. Endometriosis adhesions can be thick and deep and cause severe pain. There may be numerous and/or large cysts on the ovaries, and between the uterus and rectum. Enzian survey Another classification, more for the purposes of evaluating deep endometriosis , is the Enzian. The questionnaire goes far beyond the typical areas of endometriosis: ovaries, tubes and peritoneum, the membrane that lines the abdominopelvic cavity and covers its organs. Includes scoring for injuries in the following locations: Vagina Rectovaginal space, area between the vagina and rectum, the final part of the large intestine Retrocervical area, i.e. behind the cervix Pelvic wall Cardinal ligaments that connect the uterus to the pelvis Sacral uterine ligaments that connect the uterus to the sacrum bone) Pelvic sidewall Adenomyosis Bladder Intestines Ureters Other locations: diaphragm, lungs, nerves… Endometriosis can appear anywhere. Coaching Methodology and creative process that provokes and inspires new thoughts and perspectives. Uses reflection and questioning to unlock your potential. It emerged from the intersection of areas as diverse as philosophy, consultancy, management, cognitive behavioral therapy... And Yoga! About coaching Often mistaken, coaching is a method that provokes deep reflection in the coachee. Focuses on the present and the future. When dealing the present, the goal is to bring awareness to blockages and self-sabotage, reshaping ways of thinking. While discussing the future, encourages you to form strategies and action plans to manifest your new awareness and achieve the goals you set for yourself. In MAMADEVI's practices and resources you will often find questions for self-reflection. May they inspire you and guide you towards the change you desire! Happy mandala MAMADEVI's coaching model What is not coaching Mentoring Both mentoring and coaching are primarily concerned with present and future achievements. However, in a mentoring relationship, someone who is taken as more knowledgeable and experienced gives advice and provides a role model. A mentor is a sponsor. Training / Teaching Process of getting knowledge skills or abilities by study, experience or teaching. The trainer by definition is the expert, and the training course is likely to be targeted on specific skills for immediate results. Training is also likely to be one to many rather than one to one. The trainer / teacher knows something the client does not. The opposite is true in coaching. The client is the expert and the client has the answers, not the coach. Consultancy A consultant provides expertise and solves business problems, or develops a business as a whole. A consultant deals with the overall organisation or specific parts of it and not individuals within it. Consultants only indirectly affect individuals. Therapy Working with the patient who seeks relief from psychological or physical symptoms, emotional healing and relief from mental pain. Therapy deals with the patient’s mental health. Coaching deals with the client’s mental growth. The client’s motive for entering therapy or counselling is usually to get away from pain or discomfort, rather than moving towards desired goals. Coaching is not remedial, it is generative. Both therapy and counselling are more likely to involve understanding and working with past experience than coaching. Counselling Counselling is working with a client who feels uncomfortable, or dissatisfied with their life. They are seeking guidance and advice. A counsellor works remedially on a client’s problem. WIP As you think, so you will feel. As you think and feel, so you will talk and act. The way you think, feel, talk and act, so you will be. That will be the reality you will manifest. O que é a Endometriose? A "normal" person has on average 6200 thoughts per day . We know that a huge percentage of these are repeated and negative thoughts. But how do we change our way of thinking? Yoga and meditation, without a doubt! They are essential to "turn off" the mind. At the same time, they connect us to our essence, where intuition comes from - new, positive and truer thoughts. On the other hand, with coaching, we will use the mind to our advantage! Here you will find: 1. Inspirational articles with the specific purpose of challenging your perspectives and beliefs and 2. - Philosophy | MAMADEVI
Tantra, Shoshin & Maitri philosophy Be whole. Be curious. Be kind. Tantra The word Tantra means to weave, to intertwine in Sanskrit. To weave what with what? The body with the spirit. Far from neo-tantra with its sexual focus, what I am referring here to classical and non-dualist Tantra philosophy. The goal is to live fully both spiritual and earthly life. Unite them as the equally important and divine parts that they are. May earthly life lead us to spirituality and may spirituality lead us to a fulfilled earthly life. After all, there must be a reason for us to be in a body and in this planet here and now! So the objective can never be to disconnect, rather to connect. Connect to what is True, for what is True never dies nor ever changes. What is transitory, that the Universe lent us, we have to learn to use them as the resources that they are. Our body, our senses, our mind and all our experiences. When our heart is aligned with our spirit, we enjoy matter for what it is, as long as it is. On the other hand, we also use matter to carry out the work of the spirit. Therefore, to be whole is to be everything you are in the here and now. A spirit that has a body, that has a mind and emotions to: experience, transform and be transformed by this dimension. Shoshin Shoshin is a Zen Buddhist term for the beginner's mind, or the curious mind of a child. When we are children, we are free from so many prejudices, fears, connotations, impressions and opinions... We are curious and approach everything for the first time with openness. Maitri Maitri is a way of going about life with kindness. When we approach ourselves and others with unconditional love, with friendliness, we respect different perspectives. We empathise with our own challenges and those of others. Acceptance emerges naturally. We step out of our old patterns of selfishness, aggression and rejection and effortlessly embrace difference. guiding principles 01 It's an invitation, not an obligation Any practice or resource is an invitation to see a new perspective or way of doing things. It is not a dogma. There is no obligation to do it nor follow it. 02 It's ONE way, not THE way The intention is to inspire you. It should not be taken as absolute Truth and even less as a dogma. Respect this as a path or perspective that is also valid. Keep what resonates with you, let go of the rest. Your way is the way. Your path is your truth. 03 The Middle Way Disidentification with the body-mind, detachment from senses and desires are objectives in order to ascend over them, not to abandon them completely. You can abandon everything when you die! Until then, you live here and now, in your body and in your mind. The approach is for you to live this experience with integrity and connection, as an active member of society, not an ascetic. 04 All-encompassing Adaptable practices to everyone, regardless of race, sex, age, physical condition, beliefs... Practices that encompass all religions, spiritual scriptures, principles or philosophies that share good ethics, as well as without any creed. With different methods and available in different formats, for different personality traits and cognitive preferences. Trying to make this available in a way that is accessible to as many people as possible.
